PRACTICAL WORK / CONNECTED FOUNDATIONS

Linux & C++ systems foundations

Connect ownership and native interfaces, then investigate files, processes, failure handling and engineering tools.

A concrete outcome

A foundation for native command-line tools with explicit lifetime, error and operating-system contracts. Use the free multi-file lab to demonstrate compile and link behavior.

This is a learning sequence. Your course map shows the actual prerequisites and readiness for each lesson.

  1. Own the language and the changes

    Practice values, references, RAII and reviewable source history. Follow each lesson’s existing prerequisites.

  2. Make storage and boundaries explicit

    Choose containers and views, check byte boundaries and adapt C interfaces with deliberate resource ownership.

  3. Meet the operating system

    Use descriptors, files, processes, mapped memory, signals and sockets. The supplied toolchain and host requirements are named in the lessons.

  4. Explain the evidence

    Use diagnostics, testing and measurements to support interface and production decisions. Advanced topics add their own prerequisites.
